5 Reasons Waxing Is the New Shaving

Waxing is the new shaving

With 2019 came a lot of exciting things for us here at Le Palais! Shortly after the New Year we had a major salon renovation. If you haven’t already heard, within our makeover, we built on a beautiful private room so we could add more services to offer you!! That’s right, Le Palais is now performing lash and body waxing services full time! We’ll get to those amazing lash extensions later but today, we’re going to discuss the pros of getting waxed. I could go on and on but I’ve narrowed it down to 5 simple reasons why waxing is better than shaving!!

Longevity

Waxing

That’s right – like two times the longevity! I had to make this number one because who wouldn’t like to get more hair-free wear?! Waxing removes hair along with the root, which gives you smoother skin for longer. Shaving cuts the hair off of your body at the surface of your skin, keeping the root attached underneath. Basically what that means is you’ll have to shave more often. (Ugh.) Most waxing services last up to 6-8 weeks depending on how quickly your hair grows back!! What other reason do ya need?! (Don’t worry I’ve got a few more.)

Finer Hair

Finer Hair

This is something not many people know about waxing/shaving! As previously mentioned, shaving cuts hair off at the surface of your skin whereas waxing takes the root of your hair out with it! So when your hair grows back in after waxing, it’s not only finer but softer too. Personally, I find this is to be one of the most valuable things because there really is nothing worse than that spiky hair feeling as it’s coming back in. Luckily with waxing, that’s a thing of the past!

Exfoliation

Exfoliation

I think we’ve all heard the countless benefits of exfoliation. It removes dry/dead skin cells living on the surface of the skin. Exfoliating is super important because it increases blood flow and helps to achieve healthy, glowing skin. With the removal of this old skin, you’re allowing new cells to mature. I’m not saying that waxing eliminates the overall need to at-home exfoliate but it does provide a once a month exfoliation that you wouldn’t be getting otherwise!

Less Irritation

Shaving

We’ve all been there, the painful and ever-dreaded razor burn. Yuck, the word alone hurts. Thankfully with waxing, this is no more! When you really think about it, the whole idea of gliding a sharp razor across your skin is kind of freaky and is also quite harsh. Cutting your body hair blunt can cause potential skin problems, who wants that? Waxing weakens the hair and allows your hair to exit your skin naturally without irritation. Yes, waxing does come with a hint of pain but in actuality, it’s much more gentle on your skin and it’s over before you even know it! (I promise!!)

Smoother

Smooth Skin

Often times razor burn comes with that unwanted bumpiness. Waxing helps eliminate that altogether. After a fresh waxing, your skin will feel smoother than ever! You might notice that after a wax session that your skin is a bit more sensitive than usual (which will only last a day or two). This is proof of the effectiveness of removing that top layer of dead skin cells and exfoliating. I’ll get more into the upkeep of a waxing another day but in order to maintain this healthy, soft skin, it’s important to treat yourself to daily natural moisturizers following your wax! This way your skin will stay as smooth as butter for as long as possible.

If any of these reasons intrigue you, it’s time to throw out your nasty razors and stop fearing the unknown!! Give waxing a try with us. From the experience to the long term benefits, I bet we can make a wax addict out of even the biggest skeptic! (I should know because that was me once upon a time – not even kidding.)
