Everyone is beaming now that spring has finally arrived! This week has been beautiful, and it’s only going to get better. I’ve been so inspired by the come of a new season that I’ve already kick-started my spring cleaning. This doesn’t just mean cleaning around the house. It’s everything!! Here’re some ideas to get yourself just as organized and ready!
The best rule of thumb here is: if you haven’t worn it in six months to a year, get rid of it!! A good idea is to put your hangers in your closet backward, as you wear the clothes, put them back on the hanger and put it into the closet the correct way. This way at the end of the time period you set for yourself, you’ll be able to see which clothes you’ve worn and which ones you haven’t! They’re all just wasted space in your closet, and you’re going to need some more space for all the cutie spring clothes that are hitting the stores right now!
2. Makeup Bag
This is something that a lot of women forget is so important! You need to be constantly cleaning out your makeup bag, rotating your things, getting new ones. It’s super gross but teeny-tiny microscopic bacteria can grow in just about everything – foundation, mascara, eyeliner, etc. That’s why you definitely want to make sure you’re always changing it up. Not only that, but we all know how our skin tone changes once the sun comes out! You might need something a little warmer for spring.
It’s time to rotate out those winter beauty products for something more suitable for spring, just like your makeup. We all know how damaging the sun can be to our hair and skin, but that’s not going to stop us from going outside anyway! We can do things to protect ourselves and our expensive hair color too. Using a color safe, UV protection shampoo, and a skin care with an SPF will do just the trick. Clean out the winter dandruff shampoos and trade them in for something more moisturizing.
Unfortunately, this is something a lot of us are guilty of. We throw everything in our cars, including receipts, hair ties, clothes, and the biggest culprit of all, empty water bottles. With spring fresh in the air, we need to rid our daily life of all this trash and clean this stuff up! It sounds like a chore, but it’s probably the easiest one of all. All you need is a trash bag and everything goes inside! Trust me, you’ll feel relieved once you do.
This one doesn’t really apply to me, and it may not apply to you either. What I mean here is your work area. We tend to spend more time working than we do anywhere else, so why shouldn’t we have a nice place to do our work in? Get rid of all the clutter and junk, only keep things that are going to make you happy! As a hairstylist, we have stations, so I like to clean my station out every few weeks, get rid of things I haven’t used in a while, and keep a few pictures inside that I like to look at whenever I can. A happier workspace will make you more productive throughout the day!
Enjoy the spring and enjoy the clean!!
