Stress Fighting Foods Brielle Nj

Eat These. Stress Less.

I know firsthand that times of stress may often turn to binge eating. However, never fear, I’ve researched up a couple of foods that will actually calm you down and help to ward off stress!

1. Edamame

Edamame Stress Relieving Food- Brielle, Nj

As I write this up on Monday night, I actually had edamame with my dinner tonight! This is one of my favorite snacks to binge on because not only is it delicious, it’s fun to eat, and it turns out it’s good for us too! Edamame contains tryptophan, which makes up 120% of our daily folate. It also produces serotonin in our brains, so keep on snackin’!

2. Oranges

We all attribute oranges to vitamin C, but that’s not all they can do! Aside from their ability to kick colds in the butt, they will actually make you feel less frazzled, given that oranges are high in cortisol! Next time you’re stressing about a cold, grab some oranges to take on double duty.

3. Lean Beef

I’m not a beef eater myself, but this fact does intrigue me. Lean beef is high in zinc, which starves off anxiety and depression. Just a 3-ounce serving is needed to keep your immunity up! Before you go ordering the double cheeseburger, be sure to check that it’s made with lean beef!

4. Spinach

Spinach Stress Reliever Food

I had to throw a leafy green at ya. Spinach is packed with nutrients, including magnesium. That’s a good thing though, because magnesium will fight off any stress-related fatigue or headaches. Call me weird, but I absolutely love spinach. I prefer my salads to be made with spinach, and I love it roasted with my dinner! I’m not saying you have to go full-on Popeye on us. If you’re not crazy about it like me, throw a little in your morning smoothie with a strong fruit like banana or strawberries!

5. Dark Chocolate

Dark Chocolate Stress Fighting Food - Brielle, Nj

If you’re looking for a sign to eat more chocolate, this is it!!! Dark chocolate contains polyphenols which boost your mood, and caffeine to prevent sluggishness. Unfortunately, you’ve got to stick to the dark stuff to reap these benefits because it contains much less sugar than the others. I mean, we all knew chocolate was the cure to everything.

Next time you’re feeling stressed out, reach for one of these five foods to help you keep calm and carry on!
